Watch Out for Tourist Traps When Camping in Tuscany
Especially in cities like Florence, Siena, or Pisa, there are always large crowds of visitors, which makes it easy to fall into one of the many tourist traps. Street vendors and waiters alike are quick to take advantage of the situation to line their own pockets. It’s therefore advisable to check the bill carefully at a restaurant and not let the waiter pressure you. In good restaurants, the waiter places the bill on the table and then steps away to give the guest time to review it; however, if the waiter stays with the guest, he is putting pressure on them to pay the requested amount immediately.
Keep an eye on your purse
In large public squares, on public transportation, and at markets, you should always keep your purse close to your body. However, a particularly serious threat to your wallet and smartphone comes from the so-called “scippatori,” who ride around on scooters and snatch purses as they pass by, disappearing with them never to be seen again.
