Lasers—the highlight of the party

A laser show is a great source of entertainment at a party. It uses laser beams that, when combined, create impressive effects. Professionals distinguish between two types of laser shows: projection shows and beam shows. In a projection show, lasers project images onto a bright surface. A special screen or a white house wall works well as a backdrop. In a beam show, the lighting technician directs the laser beams in bundles toward the audience. The laser beams combine to form striking patterns. Projection and beam shows can also be combined at a party.

The laser beams are generated by either continuous-wave (CW) glass lasers, diode lasers, or DPSS lasers. Colorful effects are produced by mixed-gas ion lasers or a combination of different-colored diode lasers. Rotating mirrors change the direction of the beam, creating patterns and images. Software adjusts the lasers and mirrors to produce the desired effects.

Using Lasers at a Party

Lasers—the highlight of the partyLaser show systems are very expensive to purchase. For a party, it is therefore recommended to rent a system. With a large system, it’s also advisable to hire operating staff to ensure that everything runs smoothly at the party. Choreographed laser effects synchronized with the music are particularly impressive. When choosing a laser show for your own party, you should also make sure that the system is suitable for the size of the room, as lasers can pose a potential risk to the eyes.

The TÜV seal for the respective beam class indicates the size of the area where no one should be present, as the risk to the eyes and skin is too great. However, laser show systems are also available with a low beam class and harmless radiation. For large systems, in addition to the safety zone, there is a safety shut-off mechanism that immediately stops the laser show in the event of a malfunction. Party lasers provide entertaining and fascinating effects set to music at a party. With the right guidance and professional handling, safety risks are minimal. Party guests can enjoy a low-risk laser show.
